Founded in 2019 through a partnership between Okayama-based textile manufacturer SHIOTA and designer Masakazu Arasawa, CIOTA approaches garment-making with complete control over the production process, from raw material selection and fabric development to weaving, cutting, and sewing. Working exclusively with original textiles, the brand is best known for its use of premium Suvin cotton, an extra-long staple fiber prized for its softness, strength, and natural luster. Rather than pursuing seasonal trends, CIOTA continues to refine timeless military and workwear silhouettes through exceptional materials and meticulous Japanese craftsmanship.
The S/S ’26 collection reinforces this philosophy through understated reinterpretations of archival garments. These British Army ghurka pants revive the military classic with a relaxed, high-waisted silhouette, constructed from an original cotton chino developed to balance structure with the supple character of Suvin cotton. Their latest denim innovation introduces a reactive-dyed rigid denim woven with Suvin cotton, preserving the crisp appearance of raw denim while showcasing the fiber’s naturally smooth texture and clean finish. Elsewhere, this fatigue jacket is cut from a lightweight high-density cotton typewriter cloth, whose tightly woven construction creates a crisp hand while maintaining the ease required for warm-weather layering.
Throughout the collection, CIOTA continues to demonstrate how thoughtful material development can elevate familiar military and workwear staples.
