Choosing to focus exclusively on outerwear, fledgling brand VACHEMENT presents its latest campaign for A/W ’20. The designers all have backgrounds in the fashion industry, either working at boutiques, planning for Yohji Yamamoto, or a managing partner for Yohji’s offshoot brand Y’s. The over-arching goal of the label is to create comfortable, high-quality pieces of outerwear that are easy to wear but also aesthetically pleasing. That goal might seem challenging to achieve, but of course, residing in Japan where century-old systems and craftsmanship procedures are still intact, paired with the learned experiences of the design team, allow that task to be accomplished.
The team’s pattern making skills are thoroughly showcased with this jacket in particular. It’s cut in the shape of a classic short fishtail parka but subtle design details including sleeve and waist cinches, a two-layer upper for breathability, and pleats running down the back length of the jacket. Highlights in material choices include this collarless tweed jacket, this wool belted coat with an artful stripe of blue at its hem, and lastly, this microsuede high-collar jacket with its fur lining, in a stunning seaweed green to bring it all together.
The collection is starting to slowly trickle into retailers now, view their stockists to stay informed.
