Launching his brand in 2015, designer SYU set out to create a “double-edged” menswear brand that could cater to a youthful identity and another for the slightly more mature sensibility wearer.
This idea is undoubtedly displayed throughout the lookbook, but more interestingly, to me, at least. It is the interwovenness of those ideas within the designs themselves. Pieces and overall outfits like this one showcase the impulsive and free-thinking mindset of the youth line, with its shredded torso detail on the shirt and nonchalant layering look. While on the other hand, SHU-san put together looks like this tailored jacket, with its traditional formalness subdued with the added arrow stripes down the sleeves.
