Design Director Tomoyuki Kobayashi has slowly made a name for himself in these latter years, with his casual apparel brand Phingerin. With the release of his latest collection for S/S 2015, he cements his stake within the lifestyle clothing sector. Tomoyuki had years of experience starting out creating pajamas in the late ’90s into the 2000s. Then, after finding his niche in the Japanese clothing market, he began expanding his design ideas to a full lifestyle collection, featuring everything from sunglasses to linen trench coats. His collections are still firmly based on the “relaxed,” “comfortable,” and “light” aesthetics that you feel from the design of pajamas, where he began. But they are continually pushing the boundaries of modern casual wear, which is why I like the brand so much. Not being afraid to push boundaries is one of the primary attributes of any of my favorite brands.
