Initially inspired by a friend’s story about not being able to find something suitable to wear for post-surf evenings in California, Masahiro Tanabe decided to establish a brand centered around the basic concept of merging functional fabrics with down feathers. Examining how birds and some animals have their control systems for warmth both internally and externally, he began to produce down and mountain jackets himself.
Altogether, the collections protrude a vintage Americana feel to them. With this F/W campaign, design details include heavy inspiration from military garbs spanning from the M-51 jacket to their unique take on the fishtail parka. This suit, with its 5-button jacket and lightweight, compact cotton fabrications come together to provide an everyday wardrobe staple. Distinctive textiles come into play with the design of this performance field jacket, featuring a cotton/nylon fabrication and 4-front pocket styling with writs cuffs and a high strap collar for sudden temperature drops.
