The former creative director of LANDLORD NY, Ryohei Kawanishi, and a group of other creatives and creators within the industry are the driving force behind LES SIX. Ryohei-san initiated his fashion career with a degree from Central Saint Martins in London. Then, in 2013, he moved to NY, where he began teaching in the Parsons MFA Fashion Design & Society. In the same year, he established LANDLORD, became its creative director, and eventually, in 2017, they participated in NYFW on an official schedule.
These days Ryohei-san is found in the quiet coastal prefecture of Tottori. He relocated there after disbanding LANDLORD and dealing with an expiring US Visa. Imbued with the ancestral Japanese term i-shoku-ju or “wear-live-eat,” the space is a creative hub for the brand’s team, local collaborators, and clients. Now in their fourth collection, the label looks to tap into the abundant resources—both material and human—to create timeless and worthwhile wardrobe staples.
