Experienced pattern maker Yu Haneishi and his brand Anei have recently revealed their latest look book for the A/W season. His experience includes six years with Yohji Yamamoto doing planning and pattern making and then moving onto Visvim for four years, because of his long-term affinity for the brand. It’s the goal of Haneishi to create designs with meaningful silhouettes, taking into account the choice of material as well. Fabric sources include Tencel, who produce sustainable lyocell and modal fibers, as well as linen and polyester.
Previous collections of Anei had motifs of color blocking and subtle layering to achieve the designer’s effect. And this season, the same principles are applied to create another stand-out collection from the budding designer. Jackets and tops are crafted wider across the chest, paired with sleeves that are dropped and widened, allowing for the intended layering to take place. Trousers come in all types of styles, from polyester track pants to wide cotton chinos and a tapered ankle version. Altogether, we can see why Mr. Haneishi has already been awarded the Tokyo Fashion Award and invited to showcase his collections in Paris the past two seasons. Designs are strong, and his seasoned track record leaves no doubt as to if he can sustain his brand independently.
