Establishing his brand in 2006, designer Hachi sought to create a space and designs that would unilaterally embrace both sexes. His background includes fashion school in Tokyo and subsequently designing costumes for agencies across Japan. Since launching, his unique and edgy designs have been heralded by industry socialites and celebrities like Lady Gaga, Mademoiselle Yulia, and Terence Koh.
When looking at the latest works for S/S ’22, we see design motifs that Hachi-san has perfected over the years. Such as oversized jackets pieced together with asymmetric panels of adjoining fabrics. Another constant of Hachi-san is his love of layering and deconstruction. This season those ideas take shape in the form of cropped tees, blazers, and pants with overlapping panels, creating a layered effect. But also, appearing as if the pattern is inside-out, pockets on blazers and pants are stitched on with all seams exposed. In addition, this season, soft abstract prints and graphics are supplied by sculptor and artist Misao Suzuki, all of which complement the neutral color theme.
