Multi-disciplinary artist Kanae Higashi is the architect behind the budding label rurumu:. Embodying the truest sense of the word creative, Kanae-san actively works as a costume designer, art director, space designer, movie director, and audition judge.
Since 2019 she has applied her beautified vision of vision, which some might classify as “shojo”. The term shojo (young woman) originates from the early 1900s magazine publications which targeted such women. It wasn’t until postwar, 1960s & 70s that these themes became more prevalent within Japanese culture. And leading into the 20th century, life began to imitate art. With subcultures surrounding shojo manga, fashion, and beauty increasingly growing in local communities around JP and online groups around the world.
