In 2015, designer Yuki Oshima established AMOK, striving to reinterpret aged clothing designs into his own perception and hopefully have that resonate with the wearer. Yuki’s background includes some time spent at Mihara Yasuhiro as an assistant pattern maker and then with Anrealage as the chief pattern maker. Those experiences allow him to dissect patterns easily and then assemble them with either dissections or multiple layers within the pattern.
Their A/W ’21 collection sees them revisiting proven designs from previous seasons. Continuing to utilize laser cutting techniques to achieve the outline effect captured here. The fabric is 100% polyester, specially made to withstand laser cutting while remaining natural to the touch and having a silk-like feel. This mixed wool suit appears to be patterned quite intricately, with its window-pane check alternating angles every few inches. Overall, Yuki-san presents a strong lookbook, with fresh design ideas, interesting pattern, print, and fabric choices, topped off with proper styling.
