RYU is a unisex brand lead by designer Ryuka Kimura and a part of the cobachi company profile. According to the brand, “they aspire to manufacture products with the concept of “wit” or sophisticated humor paying attention to detail without cutting corners.” In the early 2000s, Ryuka-san dipped his feet in the fashion game working for designer Ann-Sofie Back as a design assistant in London. Then in 2005, launching RYU and subsequently opening a retail location and curry shop around 2008.
It’s always easy for me to get behind a brand that provides effortless, gender binary—but also stylish at the same time—garments appropriate for the season. A/W ’21 for RYU incorporates styles from various genres, including military and contemporary casual. One particular highlight from the collection is this denim set with its band collar, cropped jacket, and wide-leg trousers finished off in a mystifying teal blue dye.
