Relatively quiet brand UMBER has released the visuals to their latest S/S ’21 campaign.
Launched in 2017, the brand designer, Hiromu Fujioka, attended Osaka Bunka Fashion College. After graduating and working in the industry for a while, he created a brand with patternmaker Koji Tsumaya from S/S ’14. Then, in 2017, Hiromu sought to branch out and begin a standalone brand, UMBER.
For S/S ’21, the brand levels up their designs across the board. Past S/S seasons have brought forward banal designs, which lacked some selling power. But this season, I can tell the brand is looking to isolate itself amongst the crowded contemporary-casual clothing brand space. Minute design details are added to almost every piece; widened hems, dropped shoulders, and loose silhouettes characterize those details. The way the flap pockets hide the belt on this blazer iteration and the pocket design on the matching shorts are great examples of how they have successfully incorporated these new thoughts.
