tac:tac is a somewhat fresh brand, established in 2013, with a designer who graduated from ESMOD a few years before. Takaaki Shimase and his brand highlight the possibilities of well-defined layering with their S/S ’21 lookbook “WINTER⇆SUMMER.”
Utilizing different aspects of layering—which is frequently an approach used during the fall and winter seasons—the label juxtaposes the perceived thought of layering with their idea of this season’s theme. Stylized basics are presented in multiple colorways, allowing you to extend your wardrobe through the months—subsequently, the diverse array of styles offered within the lookbook showcase the brand’s design profile. In sync with the collection theme, traditional autumn/winter items like hats and scarves are produced with a honeycomb pattern, making them lightweight and airy. Pattern cuts are kept generous to stay in tune with the androgynous mix and allow for copious layering, which for me, is the focal point of the label.
