Established in 2019 by designer Yahei Araya, TAUPE is a contemporary casual, daily-wear brand produced in Japan. The primary goal of the brand is to provide clothes to “grown men and women” without compromising style and allowing the wearer to break free from the “conservative” stereotype.
The brand is committed to the precise manufacturing of its products; therefore, relationships with seasoned and qualified manufacturers are established. The overall quality of the clothing comes through even in pictures; the mixed knit sweaters, light cotton blouson, and wool jackets all seem to jump off the screen. Furthermore, their collection of blousons this season are fabricated from a mix of materials, all of which allow you to choose your preferred wearing method. Whether it’s this melange wool version for colder months or this polyester style for the warmer months. Sweaters like this one are crafted with ultra-long cotton, which creates a resistance to pilling and shape loss. And this one is fabricated with a mixture of a twisted yarn of polyester with an airy, bulge, and shrink-proof wool; the diamond pattern is achieved with a plating technique, a process I explained with the showing of the Yashiki A/W collection.
Overall, the collection is a step in the right direction for the brand, and I can’t wait to see what else they have to produce. Head over to their website to learn more about them and browse stockists.
