Designer: Kaito Yamato
Incorporation Date: 2011
Known For: In 2011 Yamato started building the foundation for what would be his community gathering place, situated within Tokyo. The location included a swimming pool (rare for Tokyo), for skating and swimming, a barbecue grill and Kaitos residence, a quaint trailer next to the pool and patio. Now the idea has advanced into a concept brand designed and produced in Japan by Kaito.
This Collection: The brand’s latest campaign is focused around the wearability of the clothes in different settings of your environment. The lookbook does a great job of representing that idea by telling a short story through pictures. Beginning the story on the streets of Tokyo and working through the day, into the night with the various events that young millennials do these days. As far as the clothing goes, there is a great mix of fabrics, from silk to thick cotton and wool. Overall, it is able to touch a nerve with young Tokyoites because the brand offers more than just clothing. They provide a distinct experience situated in the heart of Shibuya, something that has never been done before in Japan. The collection will be available to shop in the next few weeks at their flagship store and select stockists across Japan.
