Designer: Jun Takahashi
Incorporation Date: 1991
Known For: We’ve come to know Jun Takahashi’s menswear for it’s conveying of compelling messages through the use of graphics and text. A deconstructed motif, he likes to leave the edges of garments unfinished, flipping the raw edges outward to give the pieces a unique and grungy feel.
This Collection: We see a collaboration with Belgian painter Michaël Borremans, his figurative paintings adorn the back of jackets and the fronts of sweaters. The color palette seems to match perfectly with the 18th-century artwork that is featured, faded greens and a beautiful mixture of blue-green-violet shades—paired with the backdrop—produce the “Instant Calm” Jun wants us to feel. Apart from that, Jun delivers the classic staple garments for which he has almost every season, suiting; this season he produces complete corduroy suits, in slim and regular fits. Jackets; my favorite would be the leather jacket with the Victorian style wall-paper border embracing the lower section.
